Description

A gift for my mom. She loves ships, so I figured I'd paint something she could print and hang on her wall. Especially since she doesn't really like ninjas and harpies, hehe.
A couple references for ship anatomy.
It's really hard to make good thumbnails for a boat. >_o;;

great job, the ship looks amazing. I think the water is a little smudgy though.

Good, but I think I prefer more detail to my ships...

I think it looks great! My 16 year old thought it was awesome and didn't notice the details. Of course some fellow artists will....and I guess critisizm is good to a point because at times we work on a piece so hard that we never see the missed details until in retrospect (me anyway) or by people commenting. I LOATHE my older art. I believe in details...but sometimes , to me, it's not always necessary...like this piece. I wish I could do a fraction as good. The SKY is beautiful!

Inspiring :) The ships always remind me of childhood and the books of Joules Vern :) Beautiful job. Maybe you should place there a few tiny figures/silhouettes of sailors to make it even more alive?

To be honest, I think it felt rather good to see something else than the usual fantasy paintings. I love fantasy paintings, so people don't get me wrong, but this was still a refreshing one. :) Also, I like the style. Very well made. (thumbup)

Absolutely wonderful! And a very succesful change from said Ninjas and Harpies. The angle of the ship is fantastic, really shows this as a fully moving dynamic vessel
The sails are awsome and the sky and sea are both very dramatic. I can really see this above the desk of Lord Nelson or someone of that ilk.
Very talented.

I love the painterly feel and think it has enough detail as is. I think most people prefer more implied art than hyper realism - easier on the eye especially if it's hanging on your wall.

Impressive! I can feel the wind blow in my hair. I love sea, I really wish I could be on that ship. Though the left side of the ship itself looks too black and lifeless compared to the colorful rest. And bigger wawes, it's not dangerous enough! for my taste ;)
